Rose of Recognition: Tech Team and Anonymous Donor

Rose of Recognition January 2026

With profound appreciation, the Parish Committee recognizes the First Parish Volunteer Tech Team with a bouquet of Roses. The Tech Team organized practically overnight, when the pandemic suspended in-person worship almost six years ago, and has continued to make hybrid worship possible for the approximately 20% of attendees who Zoom-in each Sunday.

Of the 36 individuals who have stepped up over the years to make online services possible, there are eight who have remained steadfast: jumping in at the last minute, scrambling, and believing with all their hearts that the online community is important – if not crucial – to our congregation’s outreach: David Dreyfus, P.J. Gardner, Jo Guthrie, Jack Matson, Cheri Minton, John Shriver, Carolyn White and one other who wishes to remain anonymous. Four of the remaining eight have done this work the full six seasons. Their dedication has been remarkable.

Expressing our deep gratitude for six church seasons of volunteer Sunday morning tech management, the Parish Committee is now able to invest in our online presence by hiring paid technicians to take over the Sunday worship service tech responsibilities. We are deeply grateful to an anonymous donor who gave First Parish funding for the first year of paid technicians, making it possible for the volunteer Tech Team members to relax on Sunday mornings, enjoying services along with the rest of us, in person or online.
