STAR Adult Education:
Spirit, Transformation, Adventure, Reflection
The STAR Committee sponsors programs for adults that encourage spiritual growth, religious understanding, and vibrant community connections.
Some STAR programs are led by our ministers or lay people and encourage deeper reflection and sharing — a workshop on prayer, for example, or conversations about spiritual practices, or discussing a book about loneliness or aging, Muslim history or spiritual journeys. Other STAR programs are lighter and more about community-weaving — potlucks in the courtyard, or games nights or crafts, or a walk in a garden or a woods.
Everyone is welcome!
If you have questions about STAR, or want to propose a STAR program that you would like to lead, please email us at star@firstparish.info.
Two STAR programs meet multiple times a week, year round, and are listed below. Please see the Events page to learn about other upcoming programs.
Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina is a method of reading and listening, lingering with, and sharing personal responses to selected texts from the Bible or other sources. Diverse responses to the text provide new insights and help us grow in our spiritual lives and set intentions for our days.
Lectio Divina meets on Zoom Tuesdays 7-8 a.m., Wednesdays 9-10 a.m., and Thursdays 8-9 a.m.
New people are always welcome! No commitment is expected.
Meditation
Looking for support for your meditation practice? Every week First Parish offers both virtual and in-person opportunities to sit together in community for 30 minutes.
Both beginners and experienced meditators are welcome. Please feel free to drop in whenever you like.
Email meditation@firstparish.info to learn the current times and locations and to be added to the weekly emailed invitations.
