Pledge and Pay Options

Go directly to the Pledge Form

You can put the total in and pay “As Can” or, better yet, set a schedule for how you want to pay and put in the amount per week or per month.  Realm will calculate the total for the year.

Add your name and the email address you use to log into Realm.

Double check that the Total Pledge in the lower right is what you intend, then “Save”.  You’ll get an email confirming your pledge.

You can put the total in at the top and pay “As Can”. The total will be transferred automatically to the “Total Pledge” at the bottom.

Click Save Pledge.

OR better yet:

After logging into Realm, click on Giving on the left and then click +Pledge.

Then follow the instructions above.

In addition to the charitable deduction you may be able to take if you itemize deductions on your federal income tax return, you may be able to maximize your giving and reduce your taxes further when you pay your pledge (even if you don’t itemize deductions) using one of these ways to contribute:

• Donate appreciated securities (stocks or mutual funds), which can eliminate the capital gains tax if the securities have appreciated in value. Instructions are on the First Parish website.
• Donate from a donor advised fund, which you can set up at most large financial institutions (such as Fidelity or Charles Schwab). You get a charitable deduction when you fund a donor advised account, using either cash, securities, or other non-cash assets. You can then make a contribution from your donor advised account, known as a grant, to First Parish and other tax-exempt charities that you support. It is convenient and you may be able to save on income and capital gains taxes in the year(s) you fund your account.
• Make a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA if you are 70 ½ years or older. As long as the funds go directly from the IRA to First Parish, you won’t pay income taxes on the withdrawal. If you are 73 or older, the distribution can also count towards the required minimum distribution from your IRA.

You can use Realm to give online from a credit card or bank account (one-time or recurring).

Log into Realm and select “Giving” then “+Give”

You can select “Give Once” and enter the total you plan to give for the 2024-25 Fiscal year or select “Give Multiple Times” and set a schedule (weekly, monthly, etc) and enter the amount of each payment.

Then set the start date to July 1, 2024 and the end date to June 30, 2025.

Then click “Continue” to set the means of payment, bank or credit card.

Give a check to First Parish through the mail or the Sunday collection plate.

• Checks may be placed in the Sunday collection plate. Write “PLEDGE” in the memo line.
• Checks may be mailed to First Parish, 630 Mass Ave, Arlington MA 02476.

 Give stock or mutual funds

• If you own securities you can donate them to First Parish in the form of a pledge (or partial pledge) and receive full credit as a tax donation. Donating stock this way may eliminate or reduce capital gains taxes.
