Installation of Turtle Island Mural

November 12, 2023 @ 11:45 am - 12:30 pm

Hosted by the Indigenous Justice Working Group and the Religious Education Program

Back in the Spring of 2023, the IJWG and the Religious Education program welcomed Aimeé Nicole Snyder Ledwell (Mashpee Wampanoag), an indigenous artist, storyteller, and educator, to explore the story of Turtle Island, the indigenous name for our continent. The children created a beautiful mural reminding us that “Turtle Island Is Our Home”. Aimeé returns on Sunday for a follow-up Time for All Ages to share with everyone.

Come to the Grady Room after the service, to see where the mural will be installed, and join Rev. Stevie Carmody and others from RE and the Indigenous Justice Working Group (IJWG) to celebrate the masterpiece created together, in our Beloved Community! We will share photos from the spring showing the process of creating this, and Indigenous Children’s Books will also be on display for you to see!
