Forum: Housing in Arlington and the MBTA Communities Act

September 27, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Availability and affordability of housing have been pressing issues in Arlington and the entire Boston metropolitan area for years. These issues have a strong bearing on economic justice, climate justice, and racial justice, all of which have been areas of activism in the First Parish social justice program. This forum will focus on how Arlington will respond to requirements coming into effect through a new state law, the MBTA Communities Act. This law was enacted with the intention of improving availability and affordability near public transportation. We will hear a presentation about a zoning change proposal recommended by Arlington’s MBTA Communities Working Group. The presenter is Jennifer Susse, a member of Equitable Arlington. There will be time allocated for questions and discussion of the proposal and, more generally, how Arlington should respond to the MBTA Communities Act. This forum will be primarily in person in the parlor at the First Parish meetinghouse. There will be an option to observe the forum over Zoom, but it will not be practical to support two-way audio.

Join us in person, or Click here to register and receive the Zoom link. The forum begins at 7:30pm; Zoom access will open shortly before that time.
