Roses of Recognition to the Trustees

Parish Committee Roses of Recognition go to the Trustees, for responsibly managing, investing and distributing First Parish’s Trust Funds, ensuring the long-term financial health of First Parish. This spring, after struggling to keep the current boiler functioning through the winter, it became clear to the Property Committee that the good health of First Parish next winter is going to require a new boiler. Careful research determined that the best option will cost $125,000 – for an item without a line in the First Parish budget.

In addition to an annual pledge for the operating budget, the primary goal for distribution of unrestricted Trust Funds is to support the capital needs of First Parish’s infrastructure. Our Trustees agreed to make an investment in the new boiler with a gift of $25,000 and a no-interest loan for the balance, to be paid over ten years. First Parish is immensely fortunate to have healthy Trust Funds, and Trustees who helped to find a creative and wise solution to this financial challenge. Thanks to Julie Dunn (Chair), Bob Fowkes, Martha Pereli, Alan Schweitzer, Megan Rising, Amy Fardella, and Kay Snowden (who completed her term this year), for your watchful care.
