First Parish at General Assembly 2025

Rev. Dr. Sofia Betancourt and Rev. Erica Richmond at UUA General Assembly 2025.

Rev. Erica Richmond, Rev. Stevie Carmody, and lay leaders Kiki Giatis, Ebonié Smith-Cooper, and Betsy Leondar-Wright attended UUA General Assembly this year in Baltimore. Betsy presented a session on racism and sociology in action, Rev. Erica and Stevie reconnected with their ministerial peers and professional groups, and all enjoyed learning from and connecting with Unitarian Universalists from all over the country. Rev. Erica also represented First Parish at the annual Honor Congregations celebration, honoring the congregations in each region who gave most generously to the UUA last year. In the photo to the right, you can see Rev. Erica with UUA President Rev. Dr. Sofia Betancourt.

General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), where participants gather to worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy decisions for the Association through a democratic process. While anyone can attend, congregations must certify annually to have voting delegates. From June 18–22, 2025, the 64th UUA General Assembly was a multi-platform event, with the main stage hosted at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland and hundreds more joining virtually.
