Marta Flanagan\, Lead Minister \nIn the First Parish Parlor \nWhat do you Believe?  What do we believe?  For the last 40 years Unitarian Universalists have pointed to the “Seven Principles” at the core of our religious tradition.  But for centuries it wasn’t that way.  Currently Unitarian Universalists in this country are considering a revision of the beliefs and values we hold at the center of our faith.  Marta Flanagan will lead a two-session program on the beliefs and ideas that have been central to Unitarian Universalists in the past and what beliefs and ideas we might make central in the future.  The program will involve reading articles in preparation of our discussions as well as some exploration of our individual beliefs.  The program will also dovetail with sermons Marta is preaching on October 15 and November 5. \nReading materials will be sent to registrants via email. \nReadings for November 1 session. For our session #1\, we will meet in person to talk about the theological themes of transcendentalism and how Unitarian Universalists understand nature. And for session #2\, we will take a field trip to the Fruitlands museum in Harvard\, MA. There we will learn more about the Alcott family’s attempt to build a utopia. The cost per person for the one-hour guided tour will be $12\, though if money is an issue\, don’t hesitate to ask for a scholarship. This event is capped at 24 people so please register in advance via Realm.
