SUMMARY:Sing Out Strong\, Revolutionary Voices
DESCRIPTION:Sing Out Strong\, Revolutionary Voices is a multi-year community-based project commissioning people in the community to write texts on activist themes that resonate with them personally. \nThis season\, it uplifts Indigenous Voices\, in anticipation of White Snake Projects’ upcoming production of Brent Michael Davids (Mohican\, Munsee/Lenape) REQUIEM FOR AMERICA\, which explores the genocidal founding of our country. \nOur poet-in-residence\, Lokosh (Chickasaw Nation) is joined by Jasmine Goodspeed (Hassanamisco Nipmuc)\, in contributing texts which have been paired with composers responding to a national call\, making songs which will tour Boston’s neighborhoods.

DESCRIPTION:The UU Urban Ministry offers a rich cultural opportunity in Roxbury — an arts/history walking tour plus a signature open-air Summer jazz concert. \nThe Roxbury Ramble ~4 mile walk tour of local public art and intriguing Roxbury history and icons. 10:00 to 2:30. Registration requested. \nThe 13-piece jazz Makanda Project will perform a free concert on the UUUM lawn from 1:00 to 4:00. No need to register! Bring a lawn chair and sit in community with fellow listeners. It will also be held on Aug.15 and Sept.12. \nYou can do one or both! Although they overlap\, you can make a day of it – explore Roxbury in the morning and relax to great music in the afternoon.
