SUMMARY:Labor Day Prayers for Liberty Walk stop at First Parish
DESCRIPTION:On May 30th\, Prayers for Liberty held an interfaith clergy march from Lexington to Boston. Hundreds of faith leaders from all different sects and creeds came together in support of democracy and human rights. First Parish hosted the group and we are thrilled to host them again when they march again on Labor Day. \nRev. Dr. Jonipher Kwong will speak on the First Parish lawn\, and we will offer refreshments to all marching. Anyone who wishes to join the march is welcome! \nWe need volunteers to help with welcoming\, refreshments\, and clean-up. Please email Rev. Erica at erica.richmond@firstparish.info if you are interested in volunteering. \nThe walk will take place on Labor Day\, September 1st\, from 9:00 – 5:00\, and the group will be stopping at First Parish from 12:00 – 12:30pm. DESCRIPTION:Pie Palace on Arlington Town Day\, September 20\, 2025 \nPie Palace is on Sept. 20th\, serving slices of delicious homemade pie to happy customers on Town Day. We need help from bakers\, booth workers\, set-up and clean-up. For newer members\, this is a fun event where you will get to socialize with fellow congregants while helping to raise funds for social justice. SUMMARY:Israel & Palestine: Claims of Belonging
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a conversation with Linda Dittmar. \nLinda will share memories of growing up as a Jew in Israel\, starting before Israel became a state\, and\, as an adult\, gradually coming to see and understand painful aspects of the history Israelis and Palestinians share\, which Israel has sought to hide. \nLinda taught literature and film studies at University of Massachusetts at Boston for forty years. The event is sponsored by the First Parish Working Group on Peace and Justice in Israel-Palestine\, and is co-organized with Arlington for Palestine. Light lunch foods will be available. Copies of Linda’s book\, Tracing Homelands: Israel\, Palestine\, and the Claims of Belonging\, will be available for purchase after the end of the program. \nSeptember 28th in the First Parish Parlor\n12 pm- 1:30 pm \n
