SUMMARY:Film Screening: "No Other Land"
DESCRIPTION:Come join us in gaining insight about some of the issues around land and people in the West Bank. You are invited to attend a showing of the Academy Award winning documentary\, No Other Land. The film resulted from the collaboration of a young Palestinian activist and a young Israeli journalist\, and it shows the process and the personal impacts of the displacement of a Palestinian community after Israeli authorities designated the area to become a military training zone. The showing will be followed by a brief and optional discussion session. \nThis event is co-hosted by the First Parish Working Group for Peace and Justice in Israel-Palestine and Arlington for Palestine.

SUMMARY:Reckoning\, Repair\, & Regime Change Teach-In with the Reckoning and Repair Working Group
DESCRIPTION:How should we carry out the work of justice in a time when government agencies are scrubbing words like “equity\,” “oppression\,” and “racism” from their websites? \nIn the chaos\, fear\, and furor of this moment\, it’s hard to know what to pay attention to. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless. But it’s important not to let the current regime drag us off course from the progress we have made. \nLet’s focus on what’s in our sphere of influence\, remembering our shared Unitarian Universalist values and the civil rights movements of the past. \nJoin members of the First Parish Reckoning & Repair Working Group to explore our current context\, find inspiration in the historical roots of the right-wing bogeyman known as DEI\, and build our collective capacity for resistance. \nFood will be served!

SUMMARY:Reimagining Paul Revere with Narragansett Artist and Activist Sage Carbone
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy this special conversation with artist Sage Carbone discussing her Indigenous beadwork reimagining of Cyrus Dallin’s Paul Revere statue. This will be on display for viewing during this program\, which is co-sponsored by our Indigenous Justice Working Group. Carbone will share how her art relates to her efforts to elevate the histories and perspectives of Indigenous peoples in Greater Boston today through such work as the Indigenous Languages Visibility Project in Cambridge and annual Red Sox Native American Celebration. Carbone views the semi quincentennial as an opportunity to envision what the next 250 years could look like when we engage with history in ways that uplift everyone.
