DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand! The community potlucks that we began this summer with over 50 people each week and scrumptious dishes\, will continue! A community potluck dinner sponsored by the STAR committee\, will be held indoors\, in the Vestry\, on the last Wednesday of the month\, starting January 31\, from 6:00-7:30pm. All are welcome. DESCRIPTION:We will take time to observe photographs and narratives on display in the Parlor which the photographer\, Jess Dugan\, says “offer a nuanced view into the struggles and joys of growing older as a transgender person and offer a poignant reflection on what it means to live authentically despite seemingly insurmountable odds.”\nAfter reflecting quietly on our experiences of these human stories of struggles and joys we will take turns sharing how we are affected and listening closely to each other.\nAll are welcome! However\, we will close the doors when we start so we can have a clear focus and hold each other’s views and feelings without interruptions. \nThe conversation will be facilitated by Zoë Stewart

SUMMARY:Film Watch & Discussion: The Letter – A Laudato Si Film
DESCRIPTION:Join in watching and discussing this powerful film that follows a small group of representatives from different parts of the world – a young person\, an indigenous person\, a person raised in poverty\, a faith leader\, and two scientists – who the Pope invited to visit Rome.  They gathered to share their perspectives and experiences of climate change and our shared responsibility to protect people and nature today and for future generations. \nThursday\, Feb. 29th at 7pm – Join in a film watch at First Parish. Alternatively\, you can watch the film on your own.  It’s available to stream free-of-charge at https://www.theletterfilm.org/watch/ \nMonday\, March 4th at 7pm – Join in a discussion about the film and reactions to it and ways we might respond in alignment with our values. \nRSVP to star@firstparish.info is requested\, not required\, to give us an idea about how many people are likely to come.  If the dates/times don’t work for you\, please include that in your RSVP.  If there’s interest\, we could seek an additional date for discussion. \nJohn Anderson and Andrew Fischer will be facilitating this STAR Program
