This promises to be an engaging conversation between Rev. Marta and Shira Hoffer\, a remarkable Harvard undergraduate who in response to the horrific Hamas attack on Israel\, October 7\, 2023\, founded the Hotline for Israel/Palestine. This text-based hotline provides her fellow students and others a place where they can safely pose difficult questions without being labeled antisemitic or Islamophobic. Our largest booth\, Household Finds is everything that doesn’t fit somewhere else.  Lots of kitchen wares\, including small appliances\, and a solid mass of other bargains. \nToyland.  Games and toys like puzzles\, Legos\, and squirt guns.  In past\, has featured finds like American Girl dolls and indie board games. \nJewelry Box. Rings\, bracelets\, earrings\, brooches\, scarves\, and handbags can all be found in the Jewelry box.  Everything from fun costume jewelry for dress up time at day care to sterling silver and 14K gold.  Come early because the dealers get there fast. \nReboots and Rewinds (electronics).  Computers\, monitors\, stereos\, speakers\, headphones\, keyboards and mice.  Whether it’s a Chromebook for school or an 80W amplifier\, you can find it here for less than anywhere else. \nBook Nook.  Tables and tables of books that will fuel your book group for years to come. \nThe Greenery.  A great selection of indoor and hardy outdoor plants\, pots\, and gardening accessories. \nThe Blue Table.  An unusual tradition started many years ago that draws blue plates\, cups\, vases\, and more from our Attic Treasures.  By far the prettiest table in the sanctuary. \nThe Buttery.  Baked goods are always a hit.  Wrapped for individual sale with a list of ingredients. \nCafe.  Our pop-up cafe always puts together a spectacular meal.  Never the same cuisine twice\, we’ve served spicy-sweet Caribbean\,  Vietnamese Bahn Mi\, and New Orleans muffalettas. \nRaffle.  Year after year our church community pulls together\, by hook or by crook (see what I did there)\, a beautiful quilt that is raffled on Saturday. \nDonations \n

What do you notice in nature? How do you feel about the climate events that are happening all around us? What concerns you? DESCRIPTION:Please join us and help create the First Parish Harvest Moon quilts for 2025\, “Colors of the Silk Road”! \nSaturday\, January 11\, 10am – 2pm\, in the First Parish Vestry. \n\nWelcome quilters of all skill levels! Please join us Saturday Jan 11\, 2025 in the vestry for a fun day of sewing and community. We will be working to complete the 2025 Harvest Moon Fair raffle quilt: Colors of the Silk Road. AND bring a friend! \nWe will start at 10am and finish up around 2pm. Our blocks are constructed using a “broken rail block”–Very simple! — We have already started these blocks (at our March Flash quilt gathering). I will bring completed blocks\, additional materials\, and provide cutting and sewing directions at our Saturday gathering. \nWhat to bring:\n– a working sewing machine (that you know how to use)\, be sure you have your pedal and the machine power cord!\n– a 1/4 inch foot (seam allowance is 1/4 inch)– if you do not have this\, fear not- we can work around it…\n– sewing and cutting tools (scissors\, seam ripper\,etc) and thread (neutral is great do not worry about matching colors).\n– cutting rulers\n– sewing threads\, needles for the hand quilting project\n– extra fabrics- Cream / light tone on tone values especially welcome ( will have a small selections as well)\n– water bottle/ beverage and lunch and/or snack ( NOTE: we will not eat/drink in the vestry- this is a mask optional environment- Certainly plan to snack in the narthex\, courtyard- weather dependent\, or find an open meeting room) \n***Iron/ Ironing board (we only need a couple- your willingness to bring this would be a great help) \nQuestions?
