SUMMARY:Prayers for Liberty Event
DESCRIPTION:As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States\, join Prayers for Liberty at the Lexington Battle Green at 9am (the walk to Arlington has been canceled due to forecasted extreme heat). We invite people of all faiths and no faith to gather in prayer\, song\, and community\, and to walk together in support of democracy\, justice\, and liberty. We will also read from the Declaration of Independence. \nAt this milestone in our nation’s history\, we are called not only to celebrate\, but also to act. We are deeply grateful for the blessings of our democracy\, and we recognize that some of our nation’s core commitments need our renewed attention and care: justice and kindness\, due process and the rule of law\, voting rights\, immigrant rights\, and the dignity of every person. \nThis gathering follows the spirit of the Prayers for Liberty gatherings and walks from last year.

SUMMARY:Benefit Concert for North American Indian Center of Boston
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the North American Indian Center of Boston (NAICOB) and all they do to support Indigenous Peoples in the Greater Boston area. Dance to Classic Rock with Stanley and The Undercovers. Good work\, Great Fun! \nAs the oldest urban Indian center in Massachusetts\, NAICOB’s mission is to empower the Native American community with the goal of improving the quality of life of Indigenous peoples. NAICOB was originally established in 1969 as the Boston Indian Council (BIC) when it served as the hub of social and civil rights activities for the American Indian/Alaska Native and First Nations urban Indian community in Boston. Indigenous community members met across the street from Boston Common\, then on Washington Street in Dorchester\, and in 1974 established our current center on South Huntington Avenue in Jamaica Plain. In 1976\, Governor Dukakis signed Executive Order No. 126 recognizing the Boston Indian Council as the state’s liaison with resident members of tribes with whom the state holds Treaties and other agreements. The BIC reorganized as the North American Indian Center of Boston in 1991 and offered innovative programs such as a drop-in recovery facility\, Native American head start\, and on-site job training. They continue to provide a wide range of cultural\, social\, educational\, and professional services to Native peoples in the Commonwealth\, guided by the express needs of their community members.

SUMMARY:No Kings Arlington
DESCRIPTION:We have the power and are claiming it together.\nNo Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.\nJoin us for the No Kings Protest at First Parish! We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence. America does not belong to strongmen\, greedy billionaires\, or those who rule through fear. It belongs to us\, the people. Co-sponsored by the Defending Democracy Working Group and Indivisible LAB (Lexington\, Arlington\, Belmont). \nWhat began in 2025 as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny\, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy. Our peaceful movement is bigger than ever. \nWhen our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink\, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence. \nOn March 28th\, rise up\, take to the streets\, and say it loud: no thrones\, no crowns\, no kings. We’re not watching history happen—we’re making it. Join us. \n*A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind\, including those legally permitted\, should not be brought to events.*
