Friday, June 13, 7–9:30pm, Sanctuary
“Return of Native Spirituality: Global Awakening from the Earth”
Ohki Forest is a vision-holder and spiritual teacher of Canadian Mohawk descent
who lives in Chiapas, Mexico. She will be discussing, in a traditional circle,
the ancient Native prophecies, especially the Maya Plumed Serpent's promised
return. More than 13 generations have come and gone since native ancestors
of the Americas did ceremonies for a time to come when all people in this
hemisphere would hear their voices to restore balance and live in harmony.
Elders say the time of fulfilling these ceremonies and prophesies has come.
Red Wind Councils is a grassroots, not-for-profit organization established
in 1987 to help support the indigenous Mayan of Chiapas. Ohki Forest brings
one-of-a-kind traditional crafts of Mayan artisans and raises money for programs
in women's development, educational programs, health care and general community
development. Donations of any size are appreciated.
Contact Ginny LaCrow with questions.

Saturday, November 22 -- Harvest Moon Fair
Prepare for the Fair This Summer!
It’s never too early to prepare for the Fair! This year’s coming
Harvest Moon Fair will be on Saturday, November 22. The theme will be “We
Gather Together,” and we, the co-chairs, hope to make it an event of
community building, volunteer opportunity, and fundraising for the church.
Over the summer you can any or all of the following:
- Put up some of your summer harvest for Grandma’s Cupboard:
jellies, relishes, spaghetti sauce, pesto, flavored vinegars, herbed oils,
pickles, bread mix, soup mix, packets of home-grown herbs . . . Or come the
fall, make a fabulous casserole; they’re a Fair tradition.
- Unleash your creativity with handmade items of paper, fabric, wood,
clay, seashells, etc. for the Crafter’s Gallery. Mobiles, picture
frames, toys, candles, jewelry . . .
- Got an urge to clean out your basement, attic,
garage, child’s
bedroom? The Fair is a great destination for all that extra stuff!
- If it’s
blue, set it aside for the unique and lovely Blue Table.
- If it’s new
(never used and maybe even in its original packaging), save it for
the Tuck Box!
- The Jewelry Box is a trove for your sparkly treasures.
- Attic Treasures
takes used items: kitchen equipment, household goods, small appliances,
and exercise and sports gear (no clothing, please).
- Toyland is the perfect
paradise for all your used toys and games.
- Fragile Fancies will take care
of your glassware, breakables. and china.
- And don’t forget the
Book Nook for all your books, CDs, DVDs, and videotapes.
We are also working on expanding the Fair Committee. We are recruiting volunteers
now to help with preliminary tasks, such as PR, sign-making and general support.
We’ll also need help during and prior to the fair for everything from
setting up the Sanctuary, moving inventory, decorating the cafe, and filling
in at booths on Fair day, to sweeping the floor at cleanup. If you are interested,
please give one of us a ring or write fair@firstparish.info!
